My colors

My colors are orange, red, and blue-violet blue. Hopefully these colors combined will make a sweet compositions.

Class Yesterday

In class we went over our posters.  We then pinned up our 20 versions of our words. The critique we did afterward was somewhat helpful.  I got a few good ideas of what to do.

I was trying to get the fonts on my computer today so I could work on the pathfinder exercises and make my ten images.  Futura works on my computer however serifa does not (even though we are only using futura right now).  Despite I figured out how to do all the exercises and am not about to start on my images.  Hopefully the word constrict turns out well in all of mine!

Hallmark

I thought Hallmark was pretty interesting tonight.  I liked that we had two female speakers who both spoke for a short period and then we asked them questions. I also thought they made their presentations rather interesting, and I think it was really cool that Lindsay is now a snow cone trailer owner.

Printing

It was really frustrating to try to print my poster off.  First when some of images would not open within the grid. So I had to go back to my house and put all my images on my flashdrive and come back up to the building.  Secondly it was just a pain to figure out how to make sure it would print off right and there were a bunch of people up here trying to print their posters off.  I am currently waiting on mine to finish printing. Hopefully it comes out all right.

1. To make smaller or narrower by binding or squeezing.

2. To squeeze or compress.

3. To restrict the scope or freedom of; cramp

Final Critique and the New Project

We had our final critique in class today.  It was rather informative and I got some good feedback on my poster.  I need to change all the reds to match so they flow better. I also need to enhance my gestural and painterly images. There were also a few other changes that I need to do, but it should be rather easy.  For the project that we are starting on Thursday I chose the word constrict.  I think it is a cool word and there could be many different ways to convey the meaning through a simple typeface.

My Project

I definitely struggled this weekend to complete all of my images on the computer.  I am getting better at using Illustrator, but it is still definitely a challenge.  As of this morning I have completed all my images however I think that I may have to tweak some of them a bit.  I'm hoping that once I print them all off they will all flow well together. This new project seems like it could be fun, hopefully it will be at least.

Lecture Today

The lecture today over color was pretty informative.  I never knew there was additive color.  I only knew about subtractive color. However trying to rework the images in illustrator continues to be incredibly frustrating.  I cannot remember how you make type faces into shapes so you can manipulate them among about one hundred things that I cannot figure out.  Hopefully I'll get some answers tomorrow in class.

Class Thursday

So class was very frustrating yesterday.  I cannot use  adobe illustrator to save my life. I spent the entire class period working on the geometric shapes one with much trouble, and then my computer died.  I really need a mac. My computer's battery life is awful.

Class Tuesday

Class a few days ago was interesting.  We had a huge group critique basically where we marked the drawings that we liked from everyone's drawings.  It took a pretty long time, but it wasn't that bad.  I got a pretty good idea of what specific drawings I am going to do now.

Last Thursday's class

It was difficult for me to figure out what to draw for the convey a specific meaning using adjectives.  I am still struggling with how to come up with 20 drawings for this one.  However I think doing the drawings on other surfaces and coming up with a typographic way to explain our object is interesting.
