I am so happy to finish that last project. It took me a long time to complete my book, but I feel that since I have made an accordion styled book before it turned out pretty well. It was also slightly difficult to mount the photos on the mat board without them getting dirty. Overall, I think my project turned out pretty well. Hopefully.
Now we are starting to make lanterns. We are doing paper studies right now. I kind of ran out of ideas though. We'll see how it goes tomorrow.
So excited for break!

Reflections over the Readings
Parts of the Letter Reflection
I think the Parts of the Letter PDF was very informative. I never even imagined that there were so many different parts that make up a single letter. There were so many different parts however it is hard to remember them all. Overall I think the article was useful in just learning about letters in general which gave us a good background on starting this project.
Photography by Steve Edwards Reflection
This article had a great deal of information on photo documents and documentaries. It gave a ton of background information on how photography was first used and the first use of documentation using photography. It talked about prison documentation as well as documentation of the poor and other people who were considered “low” lifes. From there it went into detail over the entire history of photo documentation till now. Overall, I think the chapter was very informative, but I think it may have had a little too much history for my taste. This chapter is relevant to what we are doing in class, because we are documenting and creating art through placing our words somewhere where they make sense. Even though it just gave us a background information and history I think this chapter was helpful overall.
Photo Ops Reflection
I thought this article was the most interesting and the most helpful of the three articles we were supposed to read. It gave a great deal of good ways to enhance and improve your digital photography as well as new ideas of how to take pictures, when to take them, and where you could take them. I never even thought of trying to intentionally try to move the camera while taking pictures to see what kind of cool pictures you might get. I think that is a really cool idea that I will definitely have to try soon. It also gave lots of other cool ideas that I would like to try using with my digital camera. I also enjoyed how every example that was explained had a picture that gave you a visual representation of the idea. Overall this article was my favorite, and I think it had the most relevant information.
Photos I took of others
We walked around campus today looking at other peoples words and there placement. I took a few pictures and here they are:

We're almost done!
We got a lot of great pictures of our word connect today. I really like how our word and placement and pictures turned out. I'm glad that we are way ahead of the game in comparison to everyone else!
Anyway, here's a few of the photos.

We finished making our letters today
Today my group and finished constructing our letters. It was frustrating however, because we could not quite make the Cs stand. Oh well. All we have left to do now is to take pictures of our letters in space which we plan on finishing tomorrow.
Here's pictures of our group working on our letters and then with our letters.

Today our group worked on cutting out our huge letters. It actually went a little faster then I was expecting so hopefully when we meet tomorrow we can get everything finished.

Places where we could place our word
Connect.
I chose this spot in Jayhawker Towers because it is a stairwell leading from the basement to the first floor. I think a stairwell is a pretty good place, because it connects two things.
I think the crossroads between two streets would be a good spot for the word connect because, it joins to roads together.

I think a crosswalk is a good place for the word connect because, it allows people to get to another side of the street which connects them to the other side.

My word constrict
This a picture of my original ten ideas for my word constrict that I used Adobe Illustrator to create.
However we are revising our colored images again except this time we only have to revise two from each of the three images. I am currently revising and changing my color scheme, because I decided I don't like the orange from the previous ones.
We then had to choose three of our ten ideas to refine and add color too. Next were had five requirements for each of three images to do with color. These are how mine turned out.

Colors
It was frustrating to do all of the colored images. I feel like the orange I was using just does not look right with the blue and red. It was also difficult to show space and some of the other techniques in certain versions of my word constrict. Hopefully overall they all look good.
