Ideo and visual writing handout summaries

The short clip we watched waas very interesting and showed the people at IDEO and how they create new designs of objects. They were particularly trying to design a better, safer, more efficient shopping cart.  First they brainstormed and researched about the object.  Then they decided designs that they liked best and were split into groups to all make their own prototypes.  Finally they all came together and decided on a design and made a prototype.  Finally they took their design to different stores to see how people reacted to it and how they liked it.

The visual writing handout just basically explained different ways to brainstorm about an idea.  It talked about mind maps, concept maps, free writing, brain writing, and word lists.  All of these things I think are very useful when one is in the brainstorming process.
